Injecting Power Into Your Articles

By Carol Wright

When you run a business, you want people to remember you. When they want to buy a product you are selling, you want your business in their frontal lobe. If you have a business online, there is a great competition to be known as the go to business for whatever product you offer. So you know that your content has to do something to set itself apart. Your advertising and marketing has to do the same. It is possible to achieve this by using certain proven strategies. But remember you want to be remembered for good reasons and not those that remind people why they do not want to choose you.

The Power of Storytelling

The power of storytelling is something that many marketers understand, but even more to not have a clue. Stories are such a useful tool with marketing, yet most marketers have little knowledge of this concept. Some marketers will utilize storytelling in pre-selling which is where it can work the best. Just like anything else, you want to avoid focusing too much on any one thing in your marketing. It is all about making a well-told story, not something that looks like sales copy, if you really want this strategy to work. There are many reasons why stories are effective, but just write a story and weave the marketing or preselling into it.

Now you need to figure out how to get the search engines to index the post or page you have just published. You need the search engines to realize that the origin of the original content is your website, not from any other location. One of the best places to get your content noticed is by placing a bookmark on Digg. You can and should also ping it in addition to anything else you may do. If you do post on WordPress, then your blog automatically pings each post that you make so you do not have to manually do it.

Relevant Content

Using stories is clearly very powerful, but how would you do this with your own business and the content that you use? There has to be a relevant connection with what you’re doing. Let’s say, for instance, that you are selling backup solutions for computers. Your story would relate to that. You can tell the story of someone who lost all they had on their hard drive – a life’s worth of hard work and information. They lost it just because they did not take the time to backup their hard drive. Next, talk about how they could have prevented this from happening. All easy and really more interesting and fun to write about.

Now what you need to do is pay attention to online and off-line marketing strategies that use stories. There are many corporations that use the strategy and have for quite a while. Smaller businesses have not been using these particular soaring telling tactics, but they are catching on.
